A nostalgic look back at my favorite hockey heroes and legends who wore the red, white and blue for the Rangers during the 60's,70's and 80's.

 

 

 

In Episode #8 we look back at one of the Best Goaltenders in Rangers history. Number 30 Gilles Villemure.

*Played 10 years in the Minor leagues earning All-Star and MVP Honors

* Played in parts of 8 seasons with the Rangers starting with the 1963-64 season

*Made the club full-time in 1970-71

* Formed one of the best Goaltending tandems along with Eddie Giacomin in NHL history

* Shared the Vezina Trophy  with Teammate Eddie Giacomin as the leagues best Goaltender during the 1970-71 season

* Named to the NHL All-Star team 3 years in a row 1971,72 and 73

*Holds the NHL record for Best Goal Against Average during  All-Star game competition.

*A left handed stand up goaltender ...at times acrobatic known for his calm, cool and poise. Played the angles with precision.

* Finished his career with the Black Hawks after the 1976-77 season

* 100 career wins with 13 shutouts and a 2.81 GAA
